Young Innovators

The802.com is working towards helping youths to recognize their potentials, and we hope to foster individual growth. With that in mind we would like to create The Young Innovator Awards. Now, the project is still in its early planning stages but we hope to include various internship opportunities to the winning youth participants, should their talents complement one another. Winners will develop individual projects over a period of one year, and should be either media; technology; mobile; or entertainment based.

Interested parties should carefully consider what kind of internship would be most suitable, so that we may begin to craft appropriate participatory learning projects. This would include what kind of skills organizations are looking for, individuals may chose to target specific companies that would find their innovations beneficial, in addition to corporate participation to provide actual internship opportunities.

Applicants will create a very clear plan, perhaps through an established relationship with a sponsor organization, and will learn to deliver their projects in a presentation setting. Internship arrangements may be specifically designed with a letter of intent from a sponsor organization.

Applicants who do not have established working relationships with organizations or companies where they wish to be sponsored are asked to contact the organization. These applicants are encouraged to research local organizations, preferably ones in which they are personally interested in, we'll work with them to envision a mutually beneficial internship scenario.

Whether the internship involves physical placement or not, each sponsoring organization will be asked to appoint a principal mentor to work with The802.com in order to promote awareness, and help to insure fairness with awardees. The potential may exist for a mentor program to be constructed, should sponsor organizations choose to work more closely with applicants and provide an additional support system to the youth participants.
